Basketball Recap: Rock Academy Comes Up Short

Rock Academy suffered their biggest defeat since January 17th on Wednesday. They lost 68-44 to the Tri-City Christian Eagles. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Defeat or not, Rock Academy got some senior leadership from Roland Balderramos and James Whitley. Balderramos went 7-for-12 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds, while Whitley posted 15 points and seven boards. That was a full 34.1% of Rock Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row Whitley has had more than a third of the team's points.

Jeramiah Turner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tri-City Christian, going 10-for-15 to rack up 21 points and five rebounds. Turner is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dre Cleaves, who scored 13 points and seven boards.

Rock Academy dropped their record down to 1-25 with the loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Tri-City Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Rock Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-49 win against Orange Glen on the 14th. As for Tri-City Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 56-53 defeat against Del Lago Academy on the 13th.
