Soccer Game Preview: Dothan vs. Houston Academy

Dothan is 2-7 against Houston Academy since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Dothan Wolves will face off against the Houston Academy Raiders at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dothan comes in on three and Houston Academy on five.

Dothan's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Bainbridge 10-0. The result was nothing new for Wolves, who have now won three matchups by five goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Houston Academy hadn't done well against Enterprise recently (they were 0-4 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Houston Academy had just enough and edged out Enterprise 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Raiders were the better team in the second half.

Houston Academy pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Dothan, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Dothan took their victory against Houston Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dothan since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
