Softball Game Preview: Mira Loma Matadors vs. Wheatland Pirates

For the second straight game, Mira Loma will face off against Wheatland. The Matadors will venture away from home to take on the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Mira Loma has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Wheatland will arrive with six straight victories.

Monday just wasn't the day for Mira Loma's offense. They came up short against Wheatland on Monday, falling 28-0.

For Wheatland's part, Raelynn Hulsey and Chasidy Sills were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hulsey pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sills tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Hulsey scored four runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances, while Sills went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one double. Those five RBI gave Sills a new career-high.

In other batting news, Wheatland got a massive performance out of Ella Woolery, who scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those five runs gave Woolery a new career-high. Sophia Logan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Wheatland's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mira Loma, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
