Softball Recap: Pettisville Has No Trouble Against Stryker

Pettisville won the last time they faced Stryker and things went their way on Monday too. The Blackbirds blew past the Panthers 27-2. The result was nothing new for the Blackbirds, who have now won eight games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Macy Hoylman made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pettisville got a massive performance out of Olivia Miller, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with five runs and two RBI. Those five runs gave Miller a new career-high. Naomi Richer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one double.

Pettisville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Pettisville and bumps their season record up to 11-5. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Stryker and 0-11 Gorham Fayette. As for Stryker, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Pettisville will square off against rival Hilltop at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Stryker is set to face off against their familiar foe Gorham Fayette at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
