Softball Game Preview: Wahkiakum Mules vs. Ocosta Wildcats

Wahkiakum came up short against Naselle on Tuesday, falling 24-6. The loss continues a trend for the Mules in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ocosta, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Oakville a 30-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Acorns: they've now won three in a row.

Joanah Rosander made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophie Olive, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Anna Davis, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs and four RBI.

Ocosta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakville only posted an OBP of .273.

Ocosta's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Wahkiakum, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
