Baseball Recap: Plymouth Wins Going Away Against Goshen

Plymouth's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Goshen RedHawks as they made off with an 8-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-4 back in April.

Preston Wolfe made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs. He has become a key player for Plymouth: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Shively, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Manzuk, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Plymouth hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goshen struck out seven times.

Plymouth has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.3 runs. As for Goshen, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Plymouth is set to face off against their familiar foe Wawasee at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Goshen will square off against rival Concord at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
