Baseball Game Preview: Maurepas Wolves vs. Family Christian Flames

Maurepas is a perfect 10-0 against Family Christian since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Maurepas will square off against Family Christian at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Maurepas sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Choudrant. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted against the Aggies since April 15, 2017.

Jonah Miller made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off 12 hits. Miller was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Aime, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Maurepas: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Family Christian got the win against Donaldsonville on Saturday by a conclusive 18-4. Considering the Flames have won 14 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Terrance Kilbourne was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Ruckman, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Family Christian and bumps their season record up to 14-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Maurepas, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.
