Softball Game Preview: New Smyrna Beach Barracudas vs. Atlantic Sharks

The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas will take on the Atlantic Sharks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Smyrna Beach will be strutting in after a win while Atlantic will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, New Smyrna Beach turned things around against Seabreeze on Thursday. They blew past the Sandcrabs 14-7.

Paige Evans was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Jaclyn Betti was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

New Smyrna Beach hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Atlantic was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They lost 10-1 to Trinity Christian Academy.

Atlantic has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season. As for New Smyrna Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 3-13.

New Smyrna Beach took their win against Atlantic in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Barracudas have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sharks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
