Softball Recap: Elkhart Comes Up Short

The matchup between Elkhart and Leo on Saturday hardly resembled the 3-1 effort from their previous meeting. Elkhart fell just short of Leo by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Leo this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Saturday.

Elkhart saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Knight, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those runs marked the first that Knight scored this season. Another was Addison Reid, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

This is the second loss in a row for Elkhart and nudges their season record down to 2-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Leo, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Elkhart will challenge South Bend Riley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leo, they will take on Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Cadets at the right time seeing as the Cadets are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
