Baseball Recap: Holyoke Find Success

Holyoke took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Caliche, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Dragons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Buffaloes on Thursday.

Colby Weber made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Weber was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Tomas Estrada was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gustavo Goytia, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

Holyoke's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Caliche, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Holyoke will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Wiggins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. This will be the Dragons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Caliche, they will be playing at home against Haxtun at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
