Basketball Recap: Omaha North Takes a Loss

Omaha North was the 51-42 winner over Millard South when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Omaha North Vikings lost 65-45 to the Millard South Patriots on Friday. The Vikings' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

Despite the loss, Omaha North still got an impressive performance from Akazja Foster, who went 8 for 12 on her way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Thomas, who posted eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Omaha North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 16 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Abbi Durow continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Millard South, as she made all 9 shots she took to post 23 points. Another player making a difference was Jayla Cleveland, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Omaha North's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Millard South, their record is now 7-4.

Omaha North is taking a road trip to take on Gretna at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Omaha North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. Millard South has already played their next match, a 46-37 victory against Pius X on the 11th.
