Football Recap: Weeki Wachee Extends Home Winning Streak to Five + How To Watch

The Weeki Wachee Hornets beat the Lake Placid Dragons 50-41 on Friday. The Hornets pushed the score to 43-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dragons cut but never quite recovered from.

Leelen Wright had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 221 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.1 yards per carry, and also caught one score. Javaris Wheeler was in the mix too, providing Weeki Wachee with one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Weeki Wachee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Despite the loss, Lake Placid still got an impressive performance from August Stivender, who threw for 138 yards and five TDs. Damarcus Brown helped Stivender out on the ground, rushing for 139 yards while picking up 8.2 yards per carry.

Weeki Wachee pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Weeki Wachee will venture away from home to face off against Tenoroc at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Placid, they will welcome Discovery at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Dragons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
