Water Valley is a perfect 3-0 against Hickory Flat since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Blue Devils will head out to take on the Rebels at 1:00 p.m. Water Valley has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Water Valley came up short against East Union on Friday, falling 18-1. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Urchins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Water Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allen Paysinger, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hickory Flat lost 12-6 to Biggersville on Thursday.

Kendell Clifton was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI. He has become a key player for Hickory Flat: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Liam Thrasher, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Water Valley's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-8. As for Hickory Flat, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Everything went Water Valley's way against Hickory Flat when the teams last played back in February of 2025, as Water Valley made off with a 20-0 win. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
