Volleyball Recap: Academy of International Studies' Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Academy of International Studies waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the University Hawks. This was a revenge game for the Dragons: when they faced off against the Hawks back in September, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Academy of International Studies was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20.

Academy of International Studies got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lisa Weinberg out in front who had seven digs and six aces. Weinberg is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Angie Zuluaga- Gonzalez was another key player, getting 21 digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Academy of International Studies was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 13 aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Academy of International Studies' victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for University, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Academy of International Studies will head out to take on Sports & Medical Sciences Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
