Football Game Preview: Academy for Classical Education Gryphons vs. East Laurens Falcons

The Academy for Classical Education Gryphons will head out to face off against the East Laurens Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Academy for Classical Education's defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so East Laurens' offense will have their work cut out for them.

Academy for Classical Education is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 44 points two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Northeast on Friday. They were beaten by the Raiders 29-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Gryphons were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, East Laurens lost to Dodge County on the road by a 33-14 margin on Friday. The Falcons have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Academy for Classical Education will have to keep a close watch on Major Floyd and Zanorrian Ellington, a pair of players who had a big impact on East Laurens' prior game. Floyd gained 106 total yards and a touchdown, while Ellington rushed for 58 yards and one touchdown.

East Laurens' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Academy for Classical Education, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Academy for Classical Education didn't have too much breathing room in their game against East Laurens in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 27-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gryphons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
