Football Recap: Rio Grande City Rattlers vs. McAllen Memorial Mustangs
Rio Grande City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 42-0 loss at the hands of the McAllen Memorial Mustangs. The Rattlers lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in October of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 24-6 score last time.
McAllen Memorial found their leader in underclassman Braxton Speights, who rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries.
Rio Grande City's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for McAllen Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Rio Grande City will head out on the road to square off against Palmview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McAllen Memorial, they will face off against Mission at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
