Softball Game Preview: Stark County Rebels vs. Peoria Lions

Stark County has gone a perfect 4-0 against Peoria recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Rebels will face off against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Stark County took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Bureau Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rebels narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Storm 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rebels have posted since April 14th.

Brooklynn Ostrowski spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Katie Grinnell was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one double. That double was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Peoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-0 to Peoria Notre Dame.

Peoria's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Stark County, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Everything went Stark County's way against Peoria in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, as Stark County made off with a 22-0 victory. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
