Softball Game Preview: Syracuse Titans vs. Davis Darts

Syracuse is 2-8 against Davis since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Titans will venture away from home to square off against the Darts at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Syracuse will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Weber, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Titans blew past the Warriors 16-7 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Davis entered their tilt with Farmington on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Phoenix. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Serena Roth made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Davis got a massive performance out of Riley Jaques, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Peery, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Davis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 11-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Davis pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Syracuse, their record now sits at 12-9.
