Basketball Game Preview: Portales Rams vs. Clovis Wildcats

The Portales Rams will take on the Clovis Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Portales turned things around against Eunice on Saturday. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 71-40 blowout they got against the Cardinals. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Rams had established a 28 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Clovis opened the new year with a less-than-successful 75-62 loss to Santa Fe. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Portales' victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Clovis, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.

Portales came up short against Clovis when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 60-48. Can Portales avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
