After a string of seven wins, Archangels Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Wayne Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Defenders of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-19.

Kali Jarosz paced Archangels Catholic's offense, picking up six kills. Jarosz got some help from Tatum Classen and her 11 assists.

Leading Wayne to victory were Mallory Redden and Addison Frank. Redden had 19 assists and nine digs, while Frank had 18 digs and two assists. Redden is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 16 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Archangels Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Wayne, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8.

Coming up, Archangels Catholic will welcome Grand Island Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wayne, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] on the 27th.
