Central is 8-1 against Ponaganset since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Chieftains at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Narragansett, who was ranked 17th at the time (Central was ranked 20th). The Knights had just enough and edged out the Mariners 2-1 on Wednesday. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Ponaganset beat Toll Gate 5-2 on Wednesday.

The victory made it two in a row for Central and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Ponaganset, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Ponaganset in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
