Basketball Recap: North Gaston Comes Up Short

North Gaston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a blow against the Huss Huskies, falling 75-29. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 520th, while the Huskies are ranked 75th).

Despite the loss, North Gaston still got an impressive performance from Sai White, who posted 11 points.

Huss found their leader in sophomore Jaleila Littlejohn, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Littlejohn is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Shemiah McCoy, who went 8 of 11 en route to 18 points and six steals.

North Gaston's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Huss, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

North Gaston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 84-25 defeat against Stuart W. Cramer on the 31st. Huss has also already played their next game, a 72-44 win against Crest on the 31st.
