Basketball Recap: Curlew Cougars vs. Northport Mustangs
Curlew lost against Northport two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Curlew Cougars were dealt a 92-47 loss at the hands of the Northport Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Mustangs are ranked 130th).
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Steven White, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jake Olson, who posted 13 points.
Curlew has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to assists: they averaged an imposing 6.29 assists in those games compared to only 6.29 in the others. As for Northport, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.
