Basketball Recap: Oxford Chargers vs. Southaven Chargers
The Oxford Chargers waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 73-66 victory over Southaven. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Southaven lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rodarius Donley. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jhordan Shivers was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Oxford is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Southaven, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-12.
Oxford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Southaven will face off against the Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (DeSoto Central is ranked 80th, while the Chargers are ranked 73rd).
