            Baseball Recap: Marion Warriors vs. Herington Railroaders        
        
		
        
        
            Marion came into Friday's   matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let the Herington Railroaders get on the board and left with  a   15-0  win  on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the  contest before.

 Lander Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He  struck out eight batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (and not a single walk). He also  tossed  no  earned runs, which is notable because Marion is 4-1 when he allows at  most  one  earned run, but 7-12 otherwise. Smith was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in two of his three plate appearances with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Jameson Looper, who  got on base  in all three of his plate appearances with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI. Marion is 8-3 when  Looper posts two or  more  runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was  Kadon Mercer, who  went 2-for-3 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run.
 Marion  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .652. The last time their  OBP was this high was  back in April.
Marion's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Herington, their loss was  their ninth straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 0-15.
As of now, neither Marion nor the Railroaders have any future games scheduled.
