Basketball Recap: Poston Butte Takes a Loss

Poston Butte lost against Eastmark back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Poston Butte Broncos had to suffer through a 68-24 loss at the hands of the Eastmark Firebirds. The Broncos' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Poston Butte lost, don't look at Symirah Gray. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points and four steals. Gray is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 17 games she's played.

Eastmark's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ella Lafountain led the charge by going 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and six assists. Anna LaFountain was another key player, going 9 for 13 on her way to 20 points.

Poston Butte's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-10. As for Eastmark, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Poston Butte wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-53 loss against ALA - Queen Creek on the 22nd. As for Eastmark, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-17 win against Combs on the 22nd.
