Baseball Game Preview: Trigg County Wildcats vs. Crittenden County Rockets

For the second straight game, Trigg County will face off against Crittenden County. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Rockets at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Trigg County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Crittenden County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Rockets on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Chase Hampton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Aaden Allen was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James Garnett, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Allen wasn't the only one making solid contact: Trigg County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Crittenden County is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6. As for Trigg County, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Trigg County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Crittenden County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
