Baseball Game Preview: Wakefield Wolverines vs. Leesville Road Pride

Wakefield is 2-8 against Leesville Road since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Wakefield Wolverines will head out to face off against the Leesville Road Pride at 4:00 p.m.

While Wolverines fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Broughton 3-2.

Tyler Rotellini looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Wakefield's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Evan Genao, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Leesville Road's season-opener on Monday wasn't quite what the team was looking for considering the end result. They and Apex Friendship finished up on equal footing with a 3-3 tie.

Wakefield came out on top in a nail-biter against Leesville Road in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wakefield since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
