Volleyball Game Preview: Clovis East Timberwolves vs. Archbishop Mitty Monarchs

The Clovis East Timberwolves will head out on the road to square off against the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clovis East comes in on four and Archbishop Mitty on 16.

Clovis East is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Harker 3-2.

Clovis East had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 16-25, 25-21, 26-24, 15-12.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Mitty faced Clovis in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Monarchs blew past the Cougars 3-0.

While Archbishop Mitty won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-17, 25-23.

Archbishop Mitty's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 39-2. As for Clovis East, their victory bumped their record up to 27-11.

Clovis East came up short against Archbishop Mitty when the teams last played back in April, falling 2-0. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
