Softball Recap: Smithtown West Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Smithtown West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the West Islip Lions by a score of 5-2 on Friday. This was a revenge game for Smithtown West: when they faced off against West Islip back in April, they had to take a 5-4 defeat.

Erin McDaid spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabrielle Krayewski, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Avery Bonello was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Smithtown West now has a winning record of 7-6. As for West Islip, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smithtown West will welcome Kings Park at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for West Islip, they will host Babylon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
