Volleyball Recap: Coventry Falls Short Against Ranked Chariho

Coventry faced Chariho in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Oakers came up short against the Chargers, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Oakers in their meetings with the Chargers: they've now lost eight in a row.

While Coventry had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-18, 25-20.

Leading Chariho to victory were Reid McCann and Jaxson Vachon. McCann had ten digs, five kills, and three aces, while Vachon had 15 digs. That's the most kills McCann has posted since back in April.

Coventry's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Chariho, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.

Coming up, Coventry will square off against North Kingstown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Skippers will roll in looking for their 22nd straight victory, something the Oakers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chariho, they will challenge East Greenwich at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
