Softball Recap: Wyoming East Takes a Loss

Wyoming East came into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles by a score of 10-8 on Friday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Flying Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Carlee Rollins and Kaydee Shrewsbury stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rollins scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Shrewsbury scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Victoria Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Wyoming East's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Woodrow Wilson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wyoming East will head out to face off against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Woodrow Wilson, they will venture away from home to take on Buckhannon-Upshur at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
