Preview: Alpine Bucks vs. Brady Bulldogs
The Alpine Bucks will head out on the road to face off against the Brady Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Alpine's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three games.
Alpine pushed their score all the way to 32 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 41-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crane. Alpine has struggled against Crane recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Alpine saw an underclassman step up: Daedrick Hardwick picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown. Sean Mendoza made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Brady fell victim to Wall's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 68-0 loss at the hands of the Hawks. While losing is never fun, Brady can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 965th, while Wall is ranked 339th).
Alpine's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Brady, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-7.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Alpine has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brady struggles in that department as they've been even better at 198.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches. Alpine skirted past Brady 57-55 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Does Alpine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Brady turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
