Baseball Game Preview: East Juniata Tigers vs. Greenwood Wildcats

The East Juniata Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Greenwood Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. East Juniata has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

East Juniata lost 16-4 to Newport on Friday. The Tigers have struggled against the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Greenwood hadn't done well against Midd-West recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since May 7, 2024.

Jacob Anderson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Hoy, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Brayden Beneito also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Greenwood's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for East Juniata, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

East Juniata came out on top in a nail-biter against Greenwood when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
