Baseball Game Preview: Highland Fighting Scots vs. Northridge Vikings

The Highland Fighting Scots will face off against the Northridge Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Highland fell victim to Bishop Watterson and their airtight pitching crew last Friday. They lost 7-0 to the Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Fighting Scots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Northridge came up short against Newark Catholic on Friday, falling 7-1. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Northridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brice Beaver, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Sam Miller also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Northridge and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything went Highland's way against Northridge when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as Highland made off with a 15-4 victory. Will the Fighting Scots repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
