Softball Recap: Weehawken Comes Up Short

Weehawken had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-13-1 to make it five. They fell just short of the Emerson Cavaliers by a score of 4-3. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

As for Emerson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-10. Four seems to be a good number for them as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Emerson's part, Sophia Centeno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. Centeno has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Demi Graham was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Weehawken will face off against Hackensack at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Emerson, they will square off against Paramus at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
