Basketball Recap: Fairfield Victorious

Fairfield won the last time they faced Chase, and Connor Fowler did his part to make sure it happened again. The Fairfield Falcons took their match on Monday with ease, bagging a 78-26 win over the Chase Kats thanks in part to Fowler, who went 20 for 30 on his way to 46 points and eight steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Fairfield's points.

Another player making a difference was Chase Combs, who posted 12 points in addition to six boards and four steals. What's more, he also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023.

Chase lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Malik Carson, who put up eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Carson is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Layton Winkelman was another key player, putting up six points and seven boards.

Fairfield's record is now 3-9. As for Chase, they are on a 32-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Fairfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-37 loss against Central Christian on the 28th. As for Chase, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-44 victory against Burrton on the 28th.
