Recap: Questa Wildcats vs. Escalante Lobos
Even though the Questa Wildcats have not done well against the Escalante Lobos recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Questa greeted the New Year with with a 53-38 win over Escalante. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Questa.
Aliyah Santistevan was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Alyse Lovato, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Questa is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Escalante, they have fallen quite a ways from their 22-8 record last season and are now at 4-8.
Questa will head out on the road to face off against Springer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Springer is ranked 45th, while Questa is ranked 50th). As for Escalante, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Navajo Prep at 5:30 p.m. Navajo Prep is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
