Baseball Recap: Northfield's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Northfield entered their tilt with Fort Morgan on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Nighthawks, who have now won four matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Mason Brennan made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Northfield got a massive performance out of Jack Phiel, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Phiel has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Bader, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-5.

Northfield's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Fort Morgan, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northfield will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Summit at 3:00 p.m. on April 1. As for Fort Morgan, they will square off against Lamar at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
