Basketball Recap: Shelby Valley Wildcats vs. East Carter Raiders
Shelby Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the East Carter Raiders. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in December of 2022.
East Carter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brynlee Walker, who posted 18 points and five boards. Savannah Adams was another key player, going 6 of 15 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.
Shelby Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for East Carter, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.
A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Shelby Valley Wildcats challenge the Paintsville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Shelby Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Paintsville likes a good challenge. As for East Carter, they will take on Elliott County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Carter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.
