Baseball Game Preview: Shaker Bison vs. Albany Falcons

Shaker has gone a perfect 9-0 against Albany recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bison will head out on the road to square off against the Falcons at 11:00 a.m. Shaker will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Shaker had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Rome Free Academy on Tuesday. The Bison were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over the Black Knights. Considering the Bison have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Tom Case, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Brayden Akley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Shaker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Albany duked it out with Bethlehem Central on Monday. The Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 5-4. Five seems to be a good number for the Falcons as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Andrew Prim was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Prim is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Shaker pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Albany, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1.

Shaker came out on top in a nail-biter against Albany in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Bison repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
