Baseball Recap: Colson Welgat's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kewanee over Ridgewood [Alwood/Cambridge]

Kewanee lost against Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Kewanee wound up with the same score they had in their last game (8-7), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Kewanee saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colson Welgat, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Welgat also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Kewanee's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge], the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Coming up, Kewanee will square off against Stark County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games Stark County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge], they will challenge Pittsfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
