Baseball Recap: Hilmar Starts Season with Win Against Mariposa County

Hilmar gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over the Mariposa County Grizzlies. The Yellowjackets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Grizzlies, too.

Javi Mena was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ian Kohen, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilmar will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Gustine at 5:00 p.m. on February 21st. As for Mariposa County, they will square off against Ripon at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
