Football Recap: Bridgeport Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oak Glen, Bridgeport was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 win over the Shadyside Tigers. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 40-34 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Jaki Threet produced another solid performance rushing for 240 yards and one TD while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 240 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bridgeport's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Bridgeport's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Shadyside, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Bridgeport will take on Cameron at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Shadyside, they will square off against Monroe Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
