Volleyball Recap: Cony Comes Up Short

Cony came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Hampden Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 two weeks ago.

Cony was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-9, 25-19.

Hampden's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoelle Raymond, who had eight digs and five aces. That's the most aces Raymond has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Addison Schall, who had ten digs and three aces.

Cony's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Hampden, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-6.

Coming up, Cony will face off against Edward Little at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hampden, after both having extra time off, they and Ellsworth will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
