Basketball Recap: Lamoille Falls Despite Big Games from Tyler Billhorn and Brayden Klein

LaMoille was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 68-46 to the Earlville Red Raiders. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Raiders from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, LaMoille had strong showings from Brayden Klein, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Tyler Billhorn, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. The contest was Klein's third in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, LaMoille was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. This was only their 12th loss (out of 15 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Earlville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Easton Fruit led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Fruit a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Adam Waite, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

LaMoille's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Earlville, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-14.

LaMoille will take on Illinois Math & Science Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Earlville, they will square off against DePue at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
