Basketball Game Preview: Hoehne Farmers vs. McClave Cardinals

The Hoehne Farmers and the McClave Cardinals will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.

Hoehne is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since January 16, 2024 on Friday. They had to suffer through a 68-34 loss at the hands of Crowley County. The game marked the Farmers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, McClave had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They really took it to the Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-29 win. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 28 points or more this season.

McClave found their leader in sophomore Tuff Kelley, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Kelley's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Drew Howe, who posted nine points and four steals.

Hoehne has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for McClave, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
