Softball Recap: Leo Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Leo got themselves on the board against Homestead on Thursday, but Homestead never followed suit. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 5-0. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Leah Shappell's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carley Funk, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Leo's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Homestead, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leo will welcome Elkhart at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Homestead, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against New Haven at 5:00 p.m. The Spartans are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
