Football Game Preview: Hoxie Mustangs vs. Rivercrest Colts

Hoxie is 0-4 against Rivercrest since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Mustangs will host the Colts at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hoxie is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Manila on Friday. The Mustangs walked away with a 13-6 victory over the Lions. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Rivercrest earned a 48-38 victory over Newport on Friday.

Hoxie better keep an eye on Jayden Young. He was instrumental in Rivercrest's win, rushing for 152 yards and three scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexx Latham, who rushed for 65 yards and a pair of TDs.

Rivercrest now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Hoxie, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3.

Hoxie was dealt a bruising 42-7 defeat at the hands of Rivercrest in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Cavonta Washington (who threw for 253 yards and five touchdowns on only 17 passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
