Basketball Game Preview: Carlson Marauders vs. Trenton Trojans

Carlson is 8-2 against Trenton since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Carlson Marauders will face off against the Trenton Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Carlson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Carlson was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to Anderson. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (60), the Marauders still had to take the loss.

Carlson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Matt MacBride, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 16 points and eight assists, and Tyler Martin, who went 8-for-20 on his way to 21 points and five boards. Martin continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Austin Saavedra was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Carlson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Trenton didn't have too much trouble with Roosevelt on Tuesday as they won 51-35. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Trenton's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Carlson, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Carlson couldn't quite finish off Trenton in their previous meeting back in January and fell 56-54. Can Carlson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
